An evergreen tree that’s decorated with ornaments, candles, or colorful lights is probably one of the most cherished symbols of the holiday season. 

Germany is credited as the place of origin of the Christmas tree, dating back as far as the 16th century. In the US, the first record of one being on display was in the 1830s by the German settlers of Pennsylvania.
