Every year, Forbes issues a report ranking the most valuable sports teams based on their collective profits from games, merchandise, and more. This year, the cutoff to even make the list was a staggering $2.075 billion, up $125 million from 2018, and $1.2 billion higher than it was just five years ago.

These increased valuations go way beyond jersey sales and ticket prices, though. The value of sports teams has skyrocketed on the backs of ballooning media rights deals and more owner-friendly collective bargaining agreements that restrain player costs.

This massive income shows no signs of slowing down; there are 52 teams across all sports worth at least $2 billion. Just 7 years ago in 2012, there was only one team (Manchester United) that was worth that much.
