Who would’ve thought that the hottest product of 2020 would be… toilet paper. But here we are, stocking up on countless rolls and leaving the supermarket shelves stripped bare. 

As it turns out, this is not the first time that toilet paper has been in extreme demand in the US. There was an acute toilet paper shortage after Johhny Carson, one of America’s favorite late-night hosts, joked about it on television. 

Currently, 83 million rolls of toilet paper are produced on a daily basis, and Americans are consuming 91 rolls per person each year.
