Christie’s in New York recently sold Leonardo da Vinci’s long-lost Salvator Mundi painting for a record-breaking $450m. The artwork, which has been billed as the ‘biggest discovery of the 21st century,’ is a painting of Jesus Christ commissioned by King Louis XII of France over 500 years ago.
The sale officially makes Salvator Mundi the highest-priced work sold privately or at auction. We decided to create an infographic highlighting the incredible life of Leonardo da Vinci, his Salvator Mundi piece, and the most expensive works of art ever sold.
