Rival carmakers Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot owner PSA aim to join forces by signing a merger agreement to create one of the world’s leading auto groups. 

If the merger is successful, this would create the world’s fourth-largest automaker with a combined market value of about $50 billion. It would also help the companies reduce costs and tackle the expensive shift to electric cars.
