Reporters Without Borders (RSF) believes freedom of expression and information will always be the world’s most important freedom. Journalists play an important role – reporting the facts, denouncing abuses, and alerting the public in order to protect women, children, soldiers, and our environment.

There are places around the globe that make it difficult, if not downright impossible, to bring issues to light in the media. That’s why RSF publishes an annual report ranking 180 countries by the degree of freedom available to journalists. We took a closer look at the 2018 World Press Freedom Index:
