Infographic: Thanksgiving weekend shopping

29.10.2019 by Infogram

Thanksgiving Day is widely celebrated throughout the United States and Canada. For many families, it might just be one of the most important dinners of the year. Turkey roast, pumpkin pies, yummy sweet potato casserole. What’s not to love?

While Thanksgiving originally started as a harvest festival celebrating the blessings of the past year, it has turned into much more than that. For example, in the US, the Thanksgiving weekend also marks the official beginning of the holiday shopping season.

In 2019, holiday retail sales in the US are expected to increase by 3.8-4.2%, reaching over $730 billion. What’s more, since retail is the largest private-sector employer in the nation, more than half a million temporary workers will be hired through the end of the year.

Find out just how big this year’s Thanksgiving weekend shopping is expected to be in our latest insight report
